Before telling you more about the ingredients and science that make LEBON ESSENTIELS unique, we think it is worthwhile to speak about an often overlooked element in our mouth ecosystem: the oral microbiota.

The oral microbiota is all the microorganisms present in our mouth, several million bacteria in fact. Most of the time, this internal bacteria live in harmony with the rest of our body. But in the event of a disturbance to the oral microbiota, previously non-pathogenic bacteria can cause cavities, gingivitis, or periodontitis.

Maintaining the balance of the oral microbiota is a primary concern at LEBON.

Two bacteria play a fundamental role in upsetting the balance of the oral microbiota, namely Streptococcus Mutans and Lactobacillus Acidophilus. That’s a mouthful! Through a process called fermentation, these two bad boys convert sugar into acids.

After taking meals, snacks, or drinks other than water, an abundance of sugars arrive in your mouth and call these two bacteria into action. They do their job only too well, rendering the oral environment more acidic, weakening teeth enamel and building up plaque that leads to cavities.

Ensuring a balanced microbiota is essential to maintaining a healthy mouth and body.

OUR INGREDIENTS AND THEIR PROPERTIES

We use natural ingredients that work in synergy to achieve perfect oral hygiene in three ways: guarding your tooth enamel, protecting the health of your gums, and optimizing the whiteness of your teeth.

ENAMEL PROTECTION

Three natural ingredients are fundamental, dare we say essential, to guaranteeing the protection of your teeth enamel and guarding against plaque and tooth decay.

Green Tea - Protect your enamel

GREEN TEA / Camellia Sinensis - certified organic.

Green Tea is one of the plants that naturally contains high contents of Fluoride. The Green Tea we use is certified organic to ensure that the Fluoride is drawn from quality soil. The amount of Fluoride in our toothpastes is dosed in a balanced and sufficient quantity to neutralize the action of the two bacteria (Streptococcus Mutans and Lactobacillus Acidophillus) responsible for the transformation of sugars into acids in the mouth. Doing this avoids the acidification of the oral environment, and makes Green Tea a natural warrior at preventing the weakening of teeth enamel and the formation of plaque and cavities.

Hydroxyapatite - Re-mineralizing action

Natural mineral ingredient composed of Calcium and Phosphate
Hydroxyapatite is naturally present in the composition of teeth, as it constitutes 97% of enamel and 70% of dentin.
This ingredient has a re-mineralizing action: it fills micro-cracks and pores in the dental enamel. Through this regenerative action, Hydroxyapatite helps reduce tooth sensitivity and protect enamel while keeping teeth white.

Xylitol - Protect your enamel

Birch bark extract (natural vegetable sweetener)
Xylitol by itself is not sufficient to neutralize the fermentation process. However, acting as Green Tea’s sidekick, it strongly inhibits acidification to prevent the formation of plaque and cavities.
Xylitol also plays a supporting role in re-mineralizing teeth as it helps to bind Hydroxyapatite to the enamel.

GUMS PROTECTION

To care for your gums, we use organic Aloe Vera in all our formulas.

Aloe Vera

ALOE VERA / Aloe Barbadensis - certified organic
Aloe Vera is a plant with multiple beneficial properties for the skin, the mucous membranes and the gums. It promotes tissue healing of ulcerations and canker sores, and is a natural ally in reducing inflammation and tenderness of the gums.

Papaya - Natural whiteness of your teeth

PAPAYA / Carica Papaya - certified organic
The natural extracts of Papaya contain an enzyme: PAPAIN. Papain naturally fights discoloration by gradually dissolving stains, tartar and dental plaque. By doing so, papaya extracts contribute to restoring the natural whiteness of your teeth.

Hydroxyapatite - For a brighter smile

Charcoal - For an extra whitening effect

VEGETABLE CHARCOAL / From Oak and Charm trees.
Despite its dark color, Charcoal has been known for generations for its whitening properties, and is therefore a powerful force that prevents tartar and staining.
At LEBON, we use an ultra-fine grade of carbon which does not risk weakening the teeth. Its good abrasive quality is counterbalanced by the naturally re-mineralizing hydroxyapatite. Charcoal also works in tandem with papaya to naturally charge the whiteness of your smile.

PLEASANT TASTE AND EXPERIENCE

Efficacy and efficiency in a toothpaste are… essential, but this should not have to come at the expense of making the brushing experience a true pleasure.

A MATTER OF MINT

LEBON ESSENTIELS comprises four different 80ml toothpastes that utilize different varieties of mint. The effects of these perennial plants range from mild to intense, and are responsible for giving you that invigorating feeling of freshness.

Sweet Mint

Sweet Mint contains Green Mint, also called Mentha Viridis or Mentha Spicata (Spearmint).
A sweet aroma that produces an easing, subtle sensation which can also found in traditional Moroccan mint tea.

One might call Sweet Mint tea time in a tube.

Classic Mint

Classic Mint and Classic Mint + Charcoal contain Peppermint, also called Mentha Piperita.
Peppermint delivers a refreshing aroma for a well-balanced sensation.

Strong Mint contains Wild Mint, also called Mentha Arvensis.
